JBE Dress Code Policy

All students are required to follow James B. Edwards Elementary’s dress code policy, as outlined below. Uniforms are required Monday through Thursday. Uniforms are not required on Fridays; however, clothing worn on Friday must adhere to CCSD's Dress Code Policy (see below).

Students are responsible for dressing in an appropriate manner at all times while on a school campus or while involved in a school or district sponsored event/activity. Wearing appropriate attire promotes a positive influence on the school climate. In addition to clothing, and shoes, student attire includes any jewelry, emblem, badge, symbol, sign, comment, or other items worn or displayed by an individual.

Tops
● Students must wear a navy, light blue, or white collared shirt that is logo free (this style of shirt is
available at Target or Walmart) or any JBE T-shirt, JBE collared shirt or JBE dress found at
JBEOne.org. The only logo that can appear on a shirt is our school logo. Any shirt worn under a
uniform shirt must be solid white, light blue, or navy.
● Any t-shirt provided by JBE may be worn as a uniform shirt.

Bottoms

  • All colors are acceptable.
  • All bottoms must be free of large logos, lettering, and graphics.
  • Bottoms are defined as pants, skirts, skorts, jumpers, or shorts.
  • Shorts, skirts, and dresses shall be of adequate length to assure modesty. Clothing shall not reveal bare skin between upper chest and mid thigh.
  • Bottoms must not be oversized, torn, ragged, nor have holes.

Cold-Weather Gear
● If it is cool inside the building, students may wear a JBE sweatshirt, JBE fleece, solid white or navy sweater, solid white or navy sweatshirt or solid white or navy fleece. Solid white or navy 1⁄4 zip pullovers are also permitted.
● Hoodies with the JBE logo are allowed to be worn in the building; however, the hoods may not be up. Teachers can request that these be placed in cubbies and bookbags if students do not comply with the policy.
● Jackets and coats do not need to adhere to the uniform colors; however, may only be worn during arrival, dismissal, recess, or other outdoor activity.

Shoes
● Health laws require students to wear shoes at all times. To prevent accidents, students should avoid wearing shoes that slide off easily. Open-toed are acceptable but not recommended. All shoes must have a back or ankle strap. Flip flops, backless sandals (i.e.- Jack Rogers), bedroom shoes including slipper boots, and shoes with wheels are not permitted. Shoes with laces must be tied at all times. Athletic shoes are the most appropriate footwear for safety and comfort on campus.

● JBE students should present themselves as Global Leaders in the community and teachers may request specific attire for field trips.
