JBE Grands
JBE Grands started in 2021 as an outreach to welcome volunteers back to JBE after the Covid shut down. Our Mission Statement includes communication with extended family members of JBE students, identifying those who are interested in being included in the JBE community, facilitating access to JBE information including volunteer opportunities and school needs and events, and generating ideas for school improvement projects and participating in their implementation.
Our members (numbering over 140) are mostly grandparents of JBE students. Many of our members are retired teachers and school administrators, with years of experience, who love children and understand the school environment. Grands volunteering in the school have Raptor clearance. They volunteer in the greenhouse, the library and with students at the request of teachers. All volunteers work by teacher request and under teacher supervision.
The Grands originated Kindergarten Grandparents Day and provide free craft activities for children at the JBE plant sales. We help keep the snack pantry stocked, operate the hot laminator for teacher materials, and have invented a free and fun end-of-the year drawing for faculty and staff. We gladly help whenever, wherever and whomever.
The Grands are also a social organization. We enjoy luncheon meetings, and get togethers.
We donate money and classroom supplies to JBE.
Positive publicity is the extra bonus The Grands have generated for JBE. The Grands have been highlighted in CCSD publicity, The Moultrie News, South Carolina Public Radio, and the SCETV publication.
We are happy to be a vital part of JBE. If you have any questions, or would like to speak with us personally, please contact us at jbegrands@gmail.com
