  1. French Language Program starting at JBE in FALL 2018 with one French teacher with the goal of having more teachers added.
  2. Reorganize our school support organizations
  3. Deepen the work with “The Leader in Me” Program to support the leadership focus hand-in-hand with the global focus
  4. Grow the program into a FLES language program where JBE would have 3 language teachers and offer language class 3 times per week for 30 minutes each session.
  5. Market JBE as a TRUE Global Leadership school.


**Expected results of the 5 points above would be increased enrollment, increased community/parental and student engagement, and increased growth and achievement.


GOAL:  Return James B Edwards to be the FLAGSHIP Mt Pleasant elementary school!



  • We want JBE to have a unique identity and no other Mt Pleasant school offers French.
  • The future Lucy Beckham High School and Moultrie Middle School envision offering French language curriculum giving CCSD the opportunity to offer a K-12 articulated French curriculum.
  • Engage the local international community
  • France is #8 in trading partners with South Carolina and there are over 17k people in SC employed by French-based companies including multi-national companies like Michelin and Le Creuset, and locally-owned companies like Café Framboise, Savoir du Monde, and others.
  • The Alliance Francaise is very active in Charleston and is excited to have a French program at JBE!
  • Initial contact with a sister school in Breuillet, France
